To the right is a picture of Dr. John Upledger, the man responsible for creating one of the most beneficial, gentle modalities studied by Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Dentists (having a session after dental work is excellent to release the restrictions that can sometimes occur while having your mouth open for an extended time); and other wellness providers.
CranioSacral Therapy has become a highly recognized modality over the last few years. When I first began studying CST in the 90’s, it was not acknowledged by many, not even Massage Therapists. However, I was fortunate to have a very dear friend – a Chiropractor – that asked me if I would be a “guinea pig” while she perfected her CST techniques. Well, she didn’t have to ask me twice…..and I was on the table. Initially, I thought to myself – “she’s barely touching me, how could this have any benefit”, but after an hour of treatment, I rose up off the table and felt like I could breathe in all of the air within a 50 mile radius!!! My lungs felt as if they finally had room to expand and take in more air/oxygen. It was the most amazing feeling because I never realized just how constricted my chest cavity had been. My diaphragm must have had multiple fascial restrictions which prevented me from taking complete breaths. That is when I knew I had to study the Upledger Method of CranioSacral Therapy.
